Contraindicated for pregnant and nursing pets and pets about to be bred or scheduled for surgery within 2 weeks (mildly blood thinning) or if your pet is scheduled for an organ transplant or skin graft (modulates/stimulates the immune system).
Cat's Claw may potentiate/strengthen Coumadin and blood-thinning drugs and liver medications such as Cytochrome P450 3A4 and CYP3A4. May also decrease the rate the liver breaks down some medications, including lovastatin (Mevacor), Rimadyl, ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and others. Taking Cat’s Claw along with liver medications can increase the effects and potential side effects.
May interact with medications for high blood pressure (antihypertensive drugs) as may decrease blood pressure and may interact with medications that decrease the immune system (Immunosuppressants) as Cat's claw may stimulate the immune system. Cat’s claw is considered generally safe but please talk to your vet before giving cat's claw to your dog/cat.
Cat's Claw may reduce platelet aggregation and is cautioned for pets using blood pressure or blood thinning medications. Cat’s claw might cause the immune system to become more active, and this could increase the symptoms of auto-immune diseases. If your cat/dog has one of these conditions, consult with your Vet provider prior to use.
